Island Greens Golf Co. began where all great ideas do.. on the tee-box of a golf course on the most beautiful day. Between two friends and eighteen holes they had mapped out the pathway to a dream they both had, a dream they believed was worth dropping everything to pursue.
Chris and Phil wanted to create a company that not only helped golfers perfect the game they love but but they wanted to have a company that golf pros could come to as well. These two, both husbands and fathers, know all too well the struggles of finding that perfect work life balance. When they themselves couldn’t find it out there in the corporate driven world they took matters into their own hands, creating their own slice of heaven on earth.
Island Greens provides a wide range of golf related services available to everyone from beginner golfer to the tour player. Our services include private & group instruction, social & corporate academies, clinics, leagues, and school golf programs. Island Greens also has a mobile division, Pros on the Go, providing simulated golf experiences outside of the studio. With this there are no limitations to our services, allowing everyone the opportunity to learn and enhance their skills to play the greatest game known to man.

Chris Taylor
Golf Professional
Chris was born in the United Kingdom and raised in the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. He started playing golf when he was 6 years old and quickly got the golf bug. Through his junior golfing accomplishments he earned a golf scholarship to Coker University in South Carolina where he studied Business Administration. He won several college tournaments and is a 2-Time NCAA All American, a 3-Time All-Conference Team Member and a 4-Time Collegiate MVP.

In 2003 he started working as an assistant golf professional. He developed a passion for the teaching side of the golf industry and continued to expand his golf skill set. Just a couple years in to the role Chris got the opportunity to play professionally and competed on various professional tours for 5 years.
Different opportunities arose in 2010 allowing his other passion for business operations and startups to develop and grow. In 2015 he moved to Texas with his growing family where he got a random chance to work with Topgolf. He excelled as Director of Instruction and quickly got promoted to different Sr Level management roles. 2021 brought about a change in thinking for Chris, which has led him to combine his passions of business and golf instruction.
Philip Johnson
Golf Professional
Phil was born in Portsmouth, VA and raised in both Virginia & North Carolina. Growing up he excelled at multiple sports but decided to focus on baseball during his teenage years. Philip signed with the Chicago Cubs in 1994 and played 4 seasons in the minor leagues.
He began his career studying under well-known teaching pros such as Jim McLean and Hank Haney. After working as either the Head Professional, Director of Instruction or Director of Golf at several large golf operations (The Carolina Club, NC. The Hills Country Club in Lakeway, Barton Creek Country Club in Austin, TOPGOLF Austin),
Phil mastered his knowledge of the golf swing and how to translate it. This opened up his opportunities to instruct and guide several elite junior players, top amateurs and touring professionals. With 18+ years of successful lessons he has developed a masterful eye and teaching platform that continues to produce consistency in the game of golf.
Liam O'Rourke
Assistant Teaching Professional
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Liam grew up playing multiple sports before discovering his passion for golf at 15. Though he came to the game later than most, his dedication quickly turned it into a lifelong pursuit. Under the guidance of Coach Taylor at Topgolf and later Coach Phil, Liam refined his skills and earned a scholarship to compete at the D3 level. His hard work and commitment eventually led him to transfer to a D1 program in Texas on a full-ride scholarship.

During his collegiate career, Liam achieved great success, becoming a three-time conference champion, a three-time First-Team All-Conference selection, and a four-time Conference All-Academic honoree. He secured multiple tournament victories, including one at the D1 level and two at the D3 level, solidifying his reputation as a determined and skilled competitor.

After earning his degree in Sports Management from Rosemont College, Liam is now working toward his PGA certification, eager to continue growing as both a player and an instructor. His mission is to help others unlock their potential on the course by sharing his knowledge, passion, and love for the game. He believes that golf is a lifelong journey of learning and improvement, and he’s excited to guide and inspire the next generation of golfers.
